Objective
The legendary U.S. Goalkeeper, Tim Howard (aka The Secretary of Defense), was headed into his final season of professional soccer in 2019. BMH partner and in-house director, Riley Clinton, had the tremendous opportunity to document Tim’s final season, and give viewers insight on Tim’s plans for life after soccer. In addition to capturing the soccer season, the project follows Tim as he works his job as an analyst for NBC Sports, an owner of Memphis 901FC, and most importantly a father to his two children. “Just the Beginning” sheds light on the experience of working and playing with Tim, from the perspective of his coaches and teammates.

- This documentary won the Heartland Emmy Award for best “Post-Produced or Edited Documentary” in 2020
- As a Director and storyteller, Riley got the opportunity to work closely with one of the greatest American soccer players of all time. This experience taught him a significant amount about working with celebrity athletes, a skillset that is invaluable in BMH projects today.
