Objective

We at BMH are huge fans of live music - especially when it's at the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. We aren't strangers to working at Red Rocks, as many of our earliest clients were musicians and bands that were lucky and talented enough to perform on stage there. When Midland's management reached out and said they wanted to do a live performance capture, we knew it was a great chance to go big!

Key Points

  • There were a total of 9 camera angles used for this concert's capture including a live feed from a drone and a 30ft jib. Securing permitting to pilot a commercial drone over a crowd like Red Rocks is no small feat, and one we are proud to have been able to accomplish for the Midland team.
  • BMH partner, Bailey T. Miclette, who is typically working as a DP, pulled from his extensive experience in live production to work as the techincal director for this project - planning cable routiing, camera positions, and setting up and operating BMH's in-house video switcher stack.
  • The load-in and setup for this concert took a full day, with thousands of feet of SDI cable being ran discreetly across the Red Rocks Amphitheater
  • The band's favorite performance of the night was their rendition of "Wichita Lineman" as seen above, our fingers are crossed that the band releases more of the songs BMH captured as time goes on.
